PhD and Master’s Job Search

During this interactive session, participants will learn how to effectively organize a job search for industry, nonprofit, and government positions. Prior to the session, participants will be provided with pre-work (a slide deck and videos) to learn job search strategies. The synchronous session is a casual, low stakes environment, with fellow graduate students, to ask more specific questions about job searching, while learning tangible ways to increase the effectiveness of a search.

 

Job Search for International Graduate Students

During this interactive online session, participants will learn the expectations of the US hiring process and learn how to successfully navigate the US job search. Prior to the live session, participants will be provided with a slide deck and videos to learn about specific tools and effective strategies. This session will provide a casual, low stakes environment, with fellow international graduate students, to ask more specific questions about job searching in the US, while learning tangible steps and preparation techniques to increase the effectiveness of a search.

 

Introduction to Consulting Careers for Advanced Degrees

Hear from consultants who work in management consulting, public sector consulting, educational consulting, and individual coaching what their work entails, how they discovered this career path, their transition from graduate school, and their recommendations for graduate students getting started in this career. This event consists of a 60-minute panel discussion followed by 30 minutes of small breakout rooms where attendees can meet with individual panelists. The panel will be moderated by the Co-Presidents of Texas Advanced Degrees 2 Consulting, an organization for graduate students transitioning from academia to consulting.

Consulting Skills: Practicing the Case Interview

Tuesday, February 9, 5-6pm

Register here

Join fellow interested advanced degree students to practice a case interview. In this session you will partner with another attendee to give and receive a case interview. Come away with specific feedback on your case interview skills and a potential practice partner! Attendees will have access to an extended registration deadline of February 10 for the Texas Case Competition for Advanced Degrees.

 

Students who attend all three consulting programs (listed above) will receive free subscriptions to CaseCoach, a leading online case interview prep platform.
